INFLUENCE OF HEAT TREATMENT ON THE HIGH-TEMPERATURE OXIDATION BEHAVIOUR OF CHROMIUM-MOLYBDENUM-VANADIUM ALLOYED HOT-WORK TOOL STEEL

The high-temperature oxidation behaviour of chromium-molybdenum-vanadium alloyed hot-work tool steel was investigated. High-temperature investigated in two conditions: soft annealed, and quenched tempered. samples were oxidised a chamber furnace an instrument for simultaneous thermal analysis, 100 h the temperature range between 400 °C 700 °C. Metallographic analysis (optical scanning electron microscopy) performed to study microstructural changes oxide layer. Oxidation kinetics analysed by thermogravimetric equations derived from results. can be described three mathematical functions, namely: exponential, parabolic cubic. However, which function best describes depends on condition steel. Quenched tempered shown oxidise less, resulting slower rate.
